Passing of Debby Zygielbaum
The Napa County Farm Bureau today sadly mourns the loss of Debby Zygielbaum, a member of the Napa County Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors.
Debby was tragically killed in a fatal collision on Highway 121 yesterday afternoon.
This is a painful and heartbreaking loss for our entire organization, Debby’s family and friends, as well as our entire community.
Debby was a vibrant member of the Board of Directors and actively involved in many aspects of the Napa County Farm Bureau. She led the Napa Organic Group which focused on sustainable farming practices and was actively involved in the Farm Bureau’s political and community education endeavors.
Debby had a lifelong fascination with the outdoors which inspired her to pursue a career as a conservationist. After earning a degree in Biology in 1995, she worked in the jungles of Costa Rica, which inspired a love for the organic movement. She then returned stateside to serve as a horticulturist at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, which is devoted to the conservation of California native plants. She then moved to Northern California in 2001 where she discovered a love for organic and biodynamic viticulture. She believed environmental conservation “begins with the food we eat and the wine we drink”.
Today, with a heavy heart, we mourn the loss of a dedicated member of our Board of Directors and encourage our community to keep Debby and her family in your prayers.
I offer heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Napa County Farm Bureau and to everyone who is grieving as a result of this tragedy.
